FANGS is an upcoming for-profit zine centered around Across the Spiververse’s iteration of everyone’s favorite Spider Society leader, Miguel O’Hara! This zine will feature contributors’ interpretations and portrayals of Miguel O’Hara in any and all aspects, featuring him in art, writing, and even merch. The zine will be ship-free in its entirety and may also feature ATSV canon characters, so long as Miguel O’Hara is the main focus of the piece.This project is unaffiliated with the Marvel or Sony franchises. All rights belong to their respective owners. This project is solely a passion project meant to celebrate Miguel O’Hara. All contributors must:
Be 18+ and have a method of receiving payment, as this is a for-profit zine
Have a Discord or be willing to make one (zine communication will take place over Discord)
Create their own original work for the zine - NO AIs, reposts, tracing, plagiarism, etc.
Refrain from posting their full work anywhere until after the zine has finished production and all orders have shipped out - to post snippets to socials outside of official zine previews during preorders, contributors must first get mod approval
We will not be accepting contributors who make clearly minor characters x clearly adult characters ship content into the zine. Please be aware of this when applying; if an applicant is found to be creating content of this, their application will not be considered. Furthermore, shipping discourse within the zine will not be tolerated, especially as this zine's content will be ship-free.Artists
Artists
We will have the following main zine roles available: Page Artist, Cover Artist, Comic Artist (where you would create a 2-4 page comic), Spot Artist
Page Artists will be expected to create 1 fully-finished single page illustration. Depending on interest, pitches, and page availability, some artists may create a spread.
Comic Artists will create a 2-4 page comic
Spot Artists will be paired with 1-2 writers (based on their interest) to either create spot art pieces or a full-page illustration for their fic
If interest is indicated, merch artists may also be assigned a stretch goal (a specific item unlocked if we reach enough orders during the preorder period).Writers
Writers will be expected to create 1 fully-finished fic totalling 1.5k-2.5k words (exact numbers subject to change at this stage).
Writers will also be collaborating with a spot artist on their piece. Mods will pair writers with spot artists based on writer pitches and spot artist interest.Merch Artists
Merch artists will be expected to create at least 1 piece of digital or physical merch. Accepted merch artists will be assigned specific merch to create based on their application. Specs will be provided by the mod team.
If interest is indicated, merch artists may also be assigned a stretch goal (a specific item unlocked if we reach enough orders during the preorder period).NSFW Artists
NSFW Page Artists will be expected to create 1 fully-finished single page illustration. Depending on interest, pitches, and page availability, some artists may create a spread.

General Application Requirements
All submitted work MUST be accessible by the mod team - we cannot review what we cannot see!
Work can be submitted in any form, so long as it’s clear. This may include viewable links to a Google Drive file, a link to a specific post on social media, an Ao3 fic link, etc. For portfolios, an organized page or folder is preferred (such as a Google Drive folder or a personal Carrd page), but a social media tag or Instagram/other art sharing platform is permitted for art/merch applications, so long as it is easy to view your work. Writers: please follow the Writer Application Requirements re: portfolios.
No NSFW is allowed in the 3 samples or main portfolio for applications. At most, NSFW may be in a separate labeled folder within the main portfolio.Artist Application Requirements
3 samples that showcase your best work and that reflect the quality of work you would create for the zine.
A general portfolio, which may include some/all of your 3 sample pieces. This portfolio may include WIPs, sketches, etc. and does not have to be strictly restricted to fully-finished pieces, but it is recommended that the majority of your work within are finished pieces.
If comics are featured in the zine and you would like to create one, it is highly recommended you submit at least one example of your comic work on the corresponding question on the application form.
A piece featuring ATSV’s Miguel is encouraged, but not requiredNSFW Artist Application Requirements
NSFW Artist Application Requirements are the same as the Artist Application Requirements, except NSFW is allowed and required somewhere within your samples. NSFW is also encouraged in your NSFW application portfolio. Please submit at least one NSFW piece in your samples.
We welcome our NSFW creators to feature all sorts of fun, spicy content in their pieces! However, the following content/kinks are banned within the zine and in applications: Incest, Shotacon/Lolicon, Golden Shower/Scatplay/Emeto, Noncon, Vore, Guro
Applicants who have this content anywhere in their application will not be considered. We will also have a section on the application for applicants to tag their work as they see fit.Writer Application Requirements
3 samples that showcase your best work and that reflect the quality of work you would create for the zine.
Individual samples must total between 1.5k to 3k words, with 200 words ‘wiggle room' both ways. At least one sample must be a completed fic. Excerpts are allowed as a sample.
A general portfolio, which may include some/all of your 3 sample pieces. Please submit this portfolio as a Google Drive folder or similar accessible folder. You may have up to 6 pieces in your portfolio. Please keep portfolio word count at 15k or lower. Excerpts are allowed in the portfolio, so long as at least one sample is a complete fic (this can be your completed fic sample).
A piece about Spiderman: ITSV/ATSV and/or featuring ATSV’s Miguel is encouraged, but not required
Fics will be in English, though writers may include Spanish so long as fics are primarily in English.Merch Artist Application Requirements

We highly recommend submitting pieces that reflect the type of merch you wish to create here (such as samples in the style you’d use for a charm if you’re interested in charms, or a print if you’re interested in prints).
A general portfolio, which may include some/all of your 3 sample pieces. This portfolio may include WIPs, sketches, etc. and does not have to be strictly restricted to fully-finished pieces, but it is recommended that the majority of your work within are finished pieces.
In your portfolio, we highly recommend featuring pieces in the style of the merch you’d like to create for the zine. This helps give the mods a better idea of which merch to assign accepted applicants.
A piece featuring ATSV’s Miguel is encouraged, but not required.
Experience producing merch is NOT required - the zine will handle merch production!
